Commissioner Features
The following is a description of the core features
found in Rhino Baseball
Commissioner. All of these features are also part of the
Deluxe version of the program. Some of the
features are also present in the Draft Magic
version as well, such as league setup, roster creation, and viewing of major
league player stats.
League Setup | Import
Stats | Track Roster Moves | Stats
& Scores | Reporting | Data Handling

 |
League Setup
-- Setup one or more leagues. Choose the scoring system, roster rules,
salary cap, prize pot formula, and important dates used
by each of your fantasy leagues (trade deadline, roster expansion,
etc.). There are 3 methods for computing team
point scores: Rotisserie, Proportional Rotisserie, or Fantasy
Points. Your teams can be ranked by Total Points or your standings can be
based on Head-to-Head game results. |
 |
Formula
Builder -- Define your own
user-defined stat formulas. This is a useful feature for
leagues that use sabermetric stat categories in their scoring systems or
wish to see customized ratings on their stat reports. |
 | Scoring
Options -- Choose which
stat categories to track for scoring purposes, and which
stats to display on screens and reports. Pick from over 100 built-in stat categories as well as your own
user-defined statistics. The flexibility is great for
leagues that have advanced beyond the standard 8
Rotisserie stats and wish to track stats such as On-Base
Average, Runs Scored, OPS, Fielding Ratio, Strikeouts, Quality Starts,
Win/Loss%, and so forth. |
 |
Position
Eligibility -- Specify
pre-draft and in-season position eligibility rules for
fantasy league players. |
 |
Scheduler -- For
head-to-head fantasy leagues, let Rhino Baseball automatically
generate the schedule of weekly games for your 8, 10, 12, 14, or
16 team league. Also supports leagues that play multiple opponents each
week (e.g. 4 weekly games against 4 different teams). |
 |
Roster
Builder -- Quickly build your post-draft fantasy team rosters using simple drag & drop. |

 |
Import Stat Files -- Quickly import
batting, pitching, games-by-position, or fielding stat files into your
relational database. Rhino Baseball can handle most types of Text (.TXT) or DBase 2
or 3 (.DBF) files that you download from a web site
or online bulletin board. Use our weekly
Rhino Stats
Service for best results. |
 | Stat File
Layouts -- Stat file
layouts for the Rhino Stats
Service have been preloaded into your database. Should you
get weekly stat files from another service (such as TQ Stats) you can use the
Stat
File Layouts window to specify the
format and structure of those files so that Rhino Baseball can import them. |

 |
Player
Maintenance -- Quickly
record roster moves for all fantasy players and update their position, salary, and contract status. Adjust settings
for major league players such as team, age, bats/throws,
estimated playing time, projected role, forecast method, and even
include pre-draft
comments. |
 |
Transaction
Reports -- View and print
the Disabled List, Waiver Wire, and Free Agent Pickup
reports for your league. |
 |
Transaction
Log -- View the log of
roster transactions for your league, and quickly fix any transaction
errors that you might have made. Filter the transaction log to show
moves for a specified date range or focus only on certain types of moves
(trades, options, waives, or DL
moves). |
 |
Roster
Validation -- Let Rhino Baseball automatically
check your rosters to ensure that the number of active
players, positions filled, salary totals, FAB balances, etc., are within legal limits based on your league's
rules. |
 |
Rosters
-- View, save, and print neatly organized fantasy team
rosters. Salary and contract status, bats/throws, and age
are shown for each player. Running totals such as the
combined salary total of all active players, FAB balance,
and number of free agent picks left are displayed for each
fantasy team. Printed rosters can display up to 4 teams side-by-side on
one sheet of paper. |
 |
Free Agent
List -- View and print a
report listing all the players in your fantasy league's
free agent pool. Rhino Baseball automatically
refreshes your free agent list in a matter of seconds each time you access it,
which saves you from having to maintain it by hand. |
 |
Transaction
Fees -- Assign fees to
each type of roster transaction, and allow Rhino Baseball to calculate
fantasy team expenses and prize pot distributions. |

 |
Player Stats
-- Analyze batting, pitching, games-by-position, and fielding stats for both major league and fantasy
players. View Year-to-Date stats amassed since the start
of the regular season, or Period-to-Date stats
accumulated over a date range. View results for over 100 built-in statistics, including
your own user-defined stat
formulas. View the Top-30 leaders (or Bottom-30 trailers) in any selected stat category. |
 |
Team
Stats/Scores -- Calculate
your fantasy team stats, point scores, and standings at the
click of a button. You can calculate and view Year-to-Date, Weekly, Biweekly,
or Monthly fantasy team stats. And you can even compute team stats &
point standings for your own chosen period of weeks, which is perfect for
leagues that hold fantasy playoffs during the month of September. |
 |
Team Stats
& Points Analyzer -- Analyze your league's stat categories to see
both weekly &
full-season statistical averages and stat goals to aim for.
Identify which stat categories are the easiest and
hardest to improve in. Compare the strengths and
weaknesses of fantasy teams in core areas such as
overall batting ability, power, speed, pitching control (ERA & WHIP),
and pitching decisions (Wins & Saves). |
 |
Point
Changes -- Compare point
scores from any 2 stat periods to see how many points
every fantasy team gained or lost over that given time span. |
 |
Team Graphs -- View
trend graphs that compare point scores over time for a chosen
group of fantasy teams. Point Scores can be compared for
any group of teams, series of dates, and any single
scoring category (including Total Points). |

 |
Save Reports -- Use
the program's Save Report
function to save full-color snapshots of your stats,
graphs, point scores, rosters, transactions, and more in PSR format. Or
use the Save File function to save your data in HTML web page
format. |
 | Auto Report Maker --
Let Rhino Baseball generate up to 30 of the most common weekly reports (such
as team stats, point scores, rosters, transaction log, waiver wire, player stats, etc.)
at the click of a button. This is a huge timesaver for the busy fantasy league commissioner! |
 |
Report
Zipping -- Use our
integrated WinZip archiving feature to create a
ready-to-email ZIP file containing your recently saved PSR
reports. |
 |
Rhino Viewer -- Send PSR reports
that you've saved in
Rhino Baseball to
other members of your league using your e-mail program.
Those people can use the Rhino
Viewer program to view, search, sort, filter, print, and
manipulate data in the
reports. The Rhino Viewer
software comes bundled with all versions of
Rhino Baseball and is available to your
league members free of charge
(it can
be download from a password-protected area of our web site). Why mail out costly
printed reports or upload bland, read-only reports to
your league's web site when you can e-mail the PSR
reports for free and use the Rhino
Viewer to analyze
your statistical data any way you want? Once you & your league mates get
hooked on using Rhino Viewer, you'll wonder how you ever lived without it! |
 |
Links Page Creator -- If you
choose to
work with HTML web pages instead of PSR reports, you can use the Links
Page Creator to generate a web page containing hypertext links to the
set of weekly web reports that you saved. This is a fast way to create a
simple index
page for your league's private web site. |

 |
Mass Change
-- Use the Mass
Change/Delete function to delete
old sets of stats, ratings, and transactions, reset
fantasy team balances, and roll player contracts forward for the
upcoming season. |
 |
Data Loader -- Load
data files that you've downloaded from the Rhino Software web site
directly into your database. Free data files containing updated Major
League Player info are periodically posted in the Baseball Stats
Center which is available to users of the
Rhino Stats
Service. So during Spring Training when you're trying to prepare your
database for the upcoming season, you don't need to waste your valuable time tracking down
all the off-season player moves and updating your database by
hand. The Data Loader
function
lets you import the necessary data files into your database quickly and easily. |
 |
Database
Backup -- Safely create a
backup copy of your current Rhino Baseball database to a backup folder
on your PC using the
built-in Database Backup
function. |
